Translational medicine: The role of AI and new technologies

The high cost of drug failures in the clinic carry potential catastrophic consequences for both patients and for early-stage biotech companies (and their partners) attempting to bring innovative new medicines to patients. Translational medicine is where the rubber begins to hit the road, for down-stream successes and failures in the clinic are first tested here. For now, the lack of predictive models (that accurately reflect human disease) contribute to future failures in the clinic. On the horizon, new technologies like machine learning, clinical data sets, better model systems, and biomarkers, among other new technologies, hold promise for more meaningful translation and better candidates for the clinic. Join us for this panel as we discuss what is required for robust translation into the clinic, and what promising new technologies are on the horizon.

Moderator: Andrew Hutchinson, Ph.D., Global Head Immunology BD&L
