About this Event

2020 APA-YES: APA Youth Power in Narration

The Asian Pacific American Youth for Equity Symposium (APA-YES) is an annual youth conference for and by APA youth, hosted and led by the Asian American Student Advocacy Project (ASAP) and the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF).

The 2020 APA-YES will focus on APA youth experiences and has 3 goals:

Workshop 1: Provide and create a safe space for APA youth to explore and understand their experiences, intersectional identities, and communities;

Workshop 2: Contextualize these understandings in APA history and current community issues;

Workshop 3: Reform these understandings into personal narratives through various creative mediums for advocacy using storytelling.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their personal narratives through a voluntary voiced share-back with key decision-makers towards the end of the conference, or they can submit their pieces to our online zine inspired by Gidra, the revolutionary newspaper from the Asian American movement.
