Celebrating the Alden Legacy! 1620-2020 www.alden.org

Enjoy history, kinship and fun as you share the momentous 400th anniversary celebration with Alden family and friends. This four-day reunion features exciting history reenactments;a Pilgrim themed dinner at Plimoth Plantation; history symposium with leading scholars sharing the latest discoveries on Pilgrim archaeology and history; activities for kids; a beer bash; tours of Duxbury's Pilgrim sites; and special behind-the-scenes tours of other Alden & Pilgrim related museums. The reunion ticket includes admission to all programs on Saturday, August 1, (with lunch), a tour of Alden House, the symposium on Thursday, July 30, and a keepsake nametag. Fees & registration for additional events are noted.

The Alden Kindred will send information about reserved blocks of rooms at four area hotels and Inns after receiving reservation confirmation.

2020 Alden Reunion Schedule

Wednesday, July 29 2020 Arrival 3-6 pm. Registration at Alden House; pick up registration materials. There are no scheduled events this evening. Enjoy the grounds of the museum, explore Duxbury and the Plymouth area. Dinner is on your own.

Silent Auction. A Silent Auction will be held throughout the reunion, closing on Saturday afternoon.

8 am. Registration continues at Alden House with distribution of registration materials.

10 am - Noon. 400th Anniversary Alden Symposium at Duxbury Free Library (77 Alden Street). Join leading scholars and experts for presentations about recent archaeology discoveries, Pilgrim history and the Alden legacy. This event is included with Alden reunion fee but pre-registration is required.

11 am - SUGGESTED ACTIVITY. Hour-long cruise of Plymouth Harbor offers narrated tour of the picturesque and historic harbor. Boats depart from Plymouth waterfront. Book directly with Captain John Boats. www.captjohn.com.

Noon - 4 pm. Enjoy a tour of the historic Alden family home with one of the AKA's expert guides. Explore the archaeological foundation of John and Priscilla's original Duxbury homesite just a few hundred yards away and walk the Pilgrim era Duxburrough Path with views of the Blue Fish River .

Tour of Plimoth Plantation (on your own), a living history museum that interprets the original 17th century Plymouth Settlement. (Allow approximately 2 1/2 hours).

8 am Registration continues at Alden House with distribution of registration materials.

10 am - Noon. Antique Appraisal by J. James Auctioneers & Appraisers under the tent at the Alden House. Open to all. $5 for one item; $!0 for three; verbal appraisals only.

10 am - 2 pm. SUGGESTED ACTIVITY. Explore Duxbury's fascinating Pilgrim legacy and maritime story on a self-guided tour of the town's historic sites. See the Alden gravesites; visit the Myles Standish monument and enjoy its spectacular view of Plymouth harbor. Visit the Art Complex Museum next to Alden House for a behind-the-scenes look at the home of Major Judah Alden, an officer during the American Revolution, and see the spectacular Herring Mosaic created for the 400th anniversary. (Map of sites included with registration materials.) Interpreters will be available at selected sites. Bus transportation may be available.

2 - 4 pm. Meet the Aldens' Neighbors! The Isaac Winslow House & Education Center in nearby Marshfileld welcomes Alden reunion guests for a first person dramatic presentation & tour offered by historian Regina Porter. (634 Careswell Street, Marshfield; www.winslowhouse.org). Pre-registration is requested; $5 per person.

5 - 8 pm. Beer & Oyster Fest at Alden House. Join Alden family and friends for a Beer Garden sponsored by Mayflower Brewing Company. Sample Duxbury's famed oysters, enjoy clam chowder, food, and music at this fundraiser to benefit preservation of Alden House Historic Site. Tickets for purchase available to reunion attendees and the community. Details to follow.

Saturday, August 1, 2020

9 - 11 am. Registration continues. Tour Alden House, explore exhibits, and the Alden First Site. Enjoy living history demonstrations by a cooper and the New Plimmoth Gard militia. Historic games and activities for kids.

11 am. Alden Kindred of America Annual Meeting. (Reports will be printed in the annual meeting program.) Presentations and talks to be determined.

Noon. Reunion photograph of attendees.

12:30 pm. Lunch, included with your reunion ticket.

2 pm. Costume parade for children, with prizes. Bring your own or select from our "Pilgrim closet." Special events/speaker to be determined.

3 pm. Silent Auction concludes.

4 pm. 2020 reunion closes.

7 pm Young Pilgrims: A Romantic Comedy 400 years in the Making! Special Reunion Performance Wrap up your reunion activities at this family friendly play about love and romance on the Mayflower, written by AKA member Sydney Blake. Young Pilgrims premiered in New York last year and will be performed at the First Parish Church in Duxbury June 26-September 13 and in Plymouth. FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is available offsite. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, guests may park at the Duxbury schools (.3 mile walk along Alden Street). On Saturday, parking is available across the street off Railroad Avenue. Handicapped parking is onsite.

Yes.

What's the refund policy?

AKA will completely refund the event ticket but cannot refund Eventbrite fees, which are unrecoverable.
