YWCA Greater Baton Rouge

At YWCA we have been working to transform communities and build stronger futures for women and girls for more than 160 years.   Today we continue to power positive change in communities across the Capital Region while advocating for policies at the local, state and federal level.  The YWCA strategically combines programming and advocacy to generate institutional change for women, girls, and communities of color in Baton Rouge and collectively across the United States.

We have grown into a movement throughout the years with programs and support ranging from Early Head Start services for infants and toddlers ages 0 -3 to providing permanent housing for domestic violence survivors to STD and pregnancy prevention courses for teen girls to our Community Bail Fund that assist non-violent, un-convicted women with the ability to continue their lives and prevent the loss of their jobs, housing and children before they have been convicted of any wrong-doing.

At YWCA, we dare to be powerful every single day of the year - for the hundreds of women, girls and families we serve, ourselves, and for future generations.  As we prepare to gather at our Annual Blues Brunch in October and commemorate another year of service, we know that we cannot do this work alone – partners like you are essential to continuing our critical work and growing our movement.  Your support helps make it possible for us to keep working, organizing and creating change in service of our timeless, bold mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for  social justice, help families and strengthen communities.

Dorothy Height once said, “This is the time to be connected. We can accomplish more together than

any of us can do alone.” We believe that our united voice and stance will continue to shift the paradigm

of our city for the better.

We are excited and hopeful that together we will continue to change our city, our state and our country through the YWCA’s mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.
