Event description

Description

The Schomburg Center’s Annual Women's Jazz Festival, in honor of Women’s History Month, features some of the best-known and unsung female performers in jazz today. The 2019 festival is slated for each Monday in March – March 4, 11, 18 and 25.

Join us for a Salute to Women in Bebop curated by musican, Jazz composer, and Obie Award winner Diedre L. Murray. Murray has composed original music for Two River Theater's production of Oo-Bla-Dee created by Golden Globe-winning actor and playwright Regina Taylor.

Oo-Bla-Dee paints a shimmering portrait of an all-female band of African-American bebop musicians traveling the country following the end of World War II.
