Description
2019 W/ National Gathering
Connect. Relate. Respond.
Sponsored by Newbigin House of Studies/City Church San Francisco
Hosted by Watershed Charlotte
What is a “theology of place”? What is the theology of the ground you are standing upon? How does the social, political and cultural history of place shape the ministry you do? How does a progressive theology fit into the values of your place and how does it push against them? What theological questions are you wrestling with as a result?
Join us in Charlotte, NC where we’ll gather to explore these questions as we build relationships with each other. Give yourself the space to learn from and dialogue with your fellow faith leaders around the country as you consider what God is calling you to respond to in your community.
If you are new to W/ or want to get to know people better, join us for a pre-event on November 5th when our board will host a meet-n-greet dinner. It's the perfect opportunity to get to know people on a deeper level before the gathering begins.
2019 Speakers include: Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, Rev. Dr. Peter Choi, Ray McKinnon, Dr. Willie Griffin, Greg Jarrell, Dawn Anthony, Tonetta Landis-Aina, Rachael McClair, Aaron Bailey, and more to be announced!
As part of our experiences together, we will learn about cultural movements and theological issues facing the progressive ministries of Charlotte. We’ll get to know the city as we visit the Levine Museum of the New South and dialogue with historians there. We’ll hear from local activists, theologians, pastors, and each other as we reflect on how the theology of the places we live in should shape and form us as faith leaders. We'll get a taste of different neighborhoods by eating local foods and spending time in the places where local progressive communities are at work.
We want you to leave here feeling connected, engaged, and ready to respond to how God is moving you as a faith leader in your own context. Come be W/ us in Charlotte this fall.
