Description

About the Event

Please join us at the Annual Thomas Merton Award honoring scholar, activist, and author Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor, PhD. The award event is from 5pm to 10pm on November 22nd at the August Wilson African-American Cultural Center – the acclaimed art galleries at the center will be available at 5:00p with programming starting at 7:30p. The Thomas Merton Award honors people whose work for peace and justice makes real impact in peoples lives, and who call on us to embrace the uncomfortable truths of our past and present while breaking open the possibilities of a better future we can build today. Past awardees include Angela Davis, Noam Chomsky, Joan Baez, Daniel Berrigan, and Vince Warren from the Center for Constitutional Rights.

We hope to see you on November 22nd! Your support allows us to honor hard-working activists whose missions align with the values of the TMC. It also allows us to continue bearing witness on global issues while organizing locally for justice at home. The Annual Thomas Merton Award event is our major fundraiser for the year, and almost all our funding comes from supporters committed to working for peace and justice. Please consider becoming a sponsor, purchasing an ad, buying tickets, or making a scholarship donation.

For more information, visit our website at ThomasMertonCenter.org/TMA2019, contact Sponsorship@ThomasMertonCenter.org, or call our office at 412.361.3022.
