You're invited to attend the Grand Valley Fortifiers 2019 Swine Symposium!

This year we are excited to have two accomplished speakers joining us to share their expertise as well as a producer panel sharing about their experiences implementing ESF systems. Dr. Radcliffe, joining us from Purdue University, will be speaking on the importance of clean water and how it affects pig growth and Dr. Ian Wellock, of Primary Diets, will be speaking on finding alternatives to high zinc levels in starter feeds. This free event is open to all pork producers and guests will enjoy a free hot lunch. Space is limited so book your seat today!

Guest Speakers:

Dr. Radcliffe

Dr. JOHN SCOTT RADCLIFFE
Purdue University

Dr. John “Scott” Radcliffe is an associate professor in the Animal Sciences Department at Purdue University. He has a primary research appointment and focuses on “environmental nutrition” in swine. Signature areas in his laboratory include: 1) enhancing the efficiency of mineral digestibility and absorption, 2) reducing nutrient excretion and improving air quality in swine production facilities, and 3) determining mechanisms regulating active mineral absorption. The primary goal of his research is to improve production efficiency and minimize nutrient excretion from swine. His research ranges from applied on-farm experiments to basic experiments involving modified Ussing chambers and analysis of gene and protein expression.

Ian-wellock

Dr. IAN WELLOCK
Primary Diets

Ian Wellock was raised on a mixed farm in the hills of the Yorkshire Dales. After studying Animal Science and gaining a PhD at the University of Edinburgh, he spent 4 years as a post-doctoral research scientist with the Scottish Agricultural College investigating nutritional alternatives to antibiotic growth promoters in newly weaned piglets. In 2007 Ian left the academia to join ABAgri as a Pig Nutritionist. Ian is currently General Manager of Primary Diets, the specialist piglet business within ABAgri. Primary Diets is the UK’s leading piglet feed business, producing over 50,000 tonnes/year piglet feeds for sale in UK and overseas.
