Event description

Description

The Southwest Florida Small Farmers Network (SWFSFN) connects southwest Florida farmers to a resource-network focused on diversified and sustainable farming systems.

The group, facilitated by the UF/IFAS Agriculture Extension agents of Sarasota, Hillsborough, Polk, Manatee, Lee and Collier counties help address the priorities, issues, and needs identified by small farmers through education.

The intended audience includes beginner as well as established small farmers who want to develop a regional network of producers with similar interests and evaluate alternative production systems first-hand.

Membership is open and at no cost.

The October 2019 meeting will be at Hubbell Farms in Lee County. Hubbell Farms is a chicken and vegetable farm that works to supply healthy and nutritious eggs and produce from their farm and from all around Florida. They have long accepted EBT/SNAP benefits and now are happy to announce their partnership with Feeding Florida and the Fresh Access Bucks Program.

Learn more about their farm, these incentive programs and network with local producers at our upcoming meeting.

Our meetings include a farm tour, grower's meeting, potluck and seed swap! So bring something to share!
