What

A hands-on, two-day workshop sponsored by Arkansas’s oil and natural gas community where teachers will learn about this vital industry and how it has changed the face of Arkansas as a place for business. Teachers will see technology in action as we take a tour of an actual drilling rig in action, visit a refinery, a bromine manufacturing facility, the community college helping students prepare for the many careers available in the industry. They will also hear about regulatory and environmental aspects of the business from state authorities and concerned organizations. Come get the facts about this industry that continues to bring job opportunities, royalty income, tax revenue, and increased business to our state. Those attending will earn approximately 14 professional development hours.

Who

Twenty-four Arkansas 3rd -12th grade Science, Math/Technology and Social Studies teachers.

When

Tuesday, June 4, at 9:30 a.m. through Wednesday, June 6, at 4:30 p.m.

Where

Day one will take place at the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission Regional office in El Dorado, AR. Day two will include an extensive tour between El Dorado and Magnolia. Teachers will be provided private-room lodging at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in El Dorado. The field tour will take us across parts of the south Arkansas oil fields, including a tour of an oil drilling rig in action, an oil refinery, Mission Creek Resources headquarters and a bromine manufacturing facility.

We’ve got it covered! This workshop is free of charge to teachers. A $75 refundable deposit is required and will be returned to those who attend or cancel within 14 days of the workshop.
