Event description

Description

The Cashmere Goat Association is proud to announce the 2019 Small Ruminant Management and Fiber Conference, to be co-hosted with the Sheep & Goat Program, Department of Animal Science, Cornell University. The conference will take place in Ithaca, NY on November 9th and 10th. Please consider being a sponsor or trade show participant at https://sponsorshipcga2019conference.eventbrite.com

This conference is aimed at both prospective and experienced goat and sheep raisers as well as fiber designers and processors, youth organizations, college students, professionals and fiber enthusiasts. Speakers include preeminent professors, veterinarians and graduate students from Cornell Univ., Langston University's internationally acclaimed Goat Research Center, Virginia Tech and Italy as well as nationally renowned fiber specialists and farmers. Saturday morning's presentations focus primarily on flock and herd health while Saturday afternoon activities include hands-on practicals on nutrition, lambing/kidding, hoof care, body condition scoring and conformation evaluation. On Sunday, national experts in cashmere, mohair and wool fiber will provide presentations and hands-on labs on fiber assessment, fiber production, and design & marketing concerns. Many of our fiber and database presenters are experienced fiber farmers. The hands-on, specialized cashmere, mohair and wool fiber evaluation classes are designed to increase the expertise of goat/sheep farmers AND fiber mills/designers responding to the increased interest in American fiber. We encourage sponsors to particpate in the conference tradeshow. The conference schedule is organized to ensure that participants have time to explore all the vendor displays.

Tickets are limited for this one of kind programming that brings together experts from all levels of the goat and sheep fiber world.
