Description

We are thrilled to welcome you all to the RI Trans Health Conference COMMUNITY TRACK!

Looking for the provider tracks? Register here: https://apps.biomed.brown.edu/cme_registration/

In this fifth year of the conference, we on the planning committee are proud to present a comprehensive program that we designed around your requests. We are also excited to have partnered with local organizations to deliver dynamic programming that is designed to meet the needs of our local community! We are excited to have TGI Network, Youth Pride Inc, Project Weber/RENEW, and PrYSM on board to deliver a thoughtful, comprehensive program for you!

We are also excited introduce our keynote speaker, Mara Keisling! Mara Keisling is the founder and executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, the nation’s leading social justice advocacy organization winning life-saving change for transgender people.Mara’s strategy and vision have guided NCTE’s work since 2003. She has led organizational and coalition efforts that have won significant advances in transgender equality, including the inclusion of gender identity in the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act from 2007 onward and countless other federal- and state-level wins.

This year we have also isome different ticketing levels for community members are able and interested in helping to financially support the conference. We are committed to providing this conference to our community free of charge, but putting something this comprehensive together is an expensive endeavor! For example, you can choose to buy a ticket that will cover the cost of two meals, which would help us pay for your food as well as that of someone who cannot afford to contribute. Please be aware that we can accommodate a limited number of community members and registration may close abruptly as that number is reached.

FAQs

Who is the Community Track for?

The community track is designed for transgender and gender-diverse/gender-nonconforming folks and their friends and family members. Providers who are seeking continuing education credits, should register with the Brown CME office: https://apps.biomed.brown.edu/cme_registration/

I'm looking for local resources. How do I change my legal documents? How do I connect with local support? What social services and healthcare providers are available to me?

The conference will make this information available to you, but much of this can be easily found on the TGI Network of RI website: www.tginetwork.org. If you have a question about access to local resources and services, you reach out to us at transhealthri@gmail.com or to TGI Network at info@tginetwork.org.

Why does registration require me to provide billing information if I am getting a free ticket?

Eventbrite does not allow us to separate who gives billing information. If billing information is needed for some people, it is required for everyone. This information need not be accurate credit card information.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no age restriction for the conference and no one will be asked by anyone associated with the conference to show identification.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Rhode Island College has ample free parking and is accessible via RIPTA.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please email us with any questions or concerns at transhealthri@gmail.com.

What's the refund policy?

Unfortunately, we are not able to process refunds at this time. Donations are optional during registration.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Having your printed ticket may speed the registration process but is not necessary for registration.

If you selected a paid ticket, you will be required to provide your legal name and payment information, BUT you will ONLY be required to use your preferred name and pronouns at the conference.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. Most information can be updated by emailing transhealthri@gmail.com. Meal and accessbility accommodations will be honored to the best of our ability. As the conference date approaches, these things become more challenging to update. We will always do our best to accommodate your needs.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes. Feel free to email us at transhealthri@gmail.com to make changes before the conference date.

Please note that as the conference date approaches, changes to meal and accessbility accommodations will become more difficult to honor and may impact a ticket transfers.

Is it okay if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

In order to attend the conference, you will need to be registered. If you would like to transfer a ticket to a new attendee/change registrant's name, please email transhealthri@gmail.com ahead of the conference. On the day of the event, we will do our best not to turn anyone away, but we have limited space and do not want to inadvertantly give away another person's space. If you have questions or concerns, please email for clarification or to discuss your specific situation. We will do our best to meet your needs.

That said, we will not be asking to see proof of ID. It is our priority to make our attendees feel comfortable and supported. For many, state-issued identification does not reflect an accurate identity. You will not be asked by anyone associated with the conference to present that identification at any time.

Why did registration close? It looked like there was more available space.

We have space to accommodate a limited number of community members, including community volunteers and conference facilitators. Because we are offering different types of tickets at different price points, it may appear that there is more space than is actually available. If you are not able to register, please sign up for the waiting list and you will be contacted if space becomes available.

I registered for the conference but now I can't make it. Is it important to return my ticket?

Yes, please! We are likely to sell out rather quickly and will have a full waiting list. Returning your ticket will ensure that the space does not go unfilled and another community members gets access to empowering resources. Please contact us at transhealthri@gmail.com if you would like to return a ticket. Unfortunately, there are no refunds for paid tickets.
