2019 OSR Bread Route Race 1
Event Information
Description
When I was a kid I fell in love with Manhattan while helping my father deliver Italian bread from the family bakery, which was located in the Bronx. In the middle of the night my dad and I would drop off bags and boxes of freshly baked bread to bodegas and supermarkets from Harlem to the Financial District, all around Manhattan. He and I would have Manhattan to ourselves for a few hours each morning, these are experieces I will never forget. The race logo is a combination of OSR and the old DiNoto's Bakery insignia.
Last year I created a new race series intending to give all of us that feeling of having the city to ourselves as we tear down the streets in the middle of the night. It is stripped down, and bare bones, so if you are expecting a venue, prize money, electronic timing, pizza and lion dancers, this one isn't for you. Those of you that were a part of these last year will understand the approach.
This race will start at promptly at 2:00am in the early morning of Thursday December 5th. Start and finish line locations will be in Manhattan, detailed Route and Race Day Information will be released on December 4th via email to all registered athletes. Course length is intended to be about 7-9 miles.
We will provide a mobile bag check. The overall winner will receive a small cash prize (depending on ticket sales), 2nd and 3rd place will be reimbursed the cost of their entry fee. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be acknowledged in both the women's and men's competitions.
There will be no timing, there will be no venue, and no after party, but all are welcome to come and get breakfast with the production team at Remedy Diner afterwards (breakfast not included with ticket purchase).
The unmarked course will take athletes through the city streets, sidewalks, parks and landmarks in the middle of the night. This is not for the faint-hearted, it is intended for the most experienced runners only. OSR reserves the right to deny anyone entry.
This race will provide it's participants with a one-of-a-kind OSR/NYC racing experience.
