Description

The ONAPA Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, August 17 this year at the Goslin Nature Center in Lancaster, Ohio. The event this year will feature morning refreshments, speakers in the morning, a short business meeting, a buffet lunch, and field trips in the afternoon to some of Ohio's Hocking Hills Region's natural treasures.

Lunch, 12:15-1:45 p.m. -

Choice of sandwiches and wraps (meat, vegetarian and gluten-free options), with 2 salads, desserts and beverages.

When registering, please select choice of sandwich for lunch and your preferred field trip (or select "no field trip").

FIELD TRIPS at 2:00 p.m

Rockbridge SNP - Leader: Tim Snyder, ONAPA

Rockbridge, one of Ohio’s larger natural arches, extends 92 feet and rises 40 feet above the small stream below, and is Ohio's longest natural bridge. This will be a moderately strenuous hike involving a long, but gentle, uphill climb and a shorter, steeper downhill walk to the natural bridge (and the reverse coming back).

Limit: 30 People

Boch Hollow SNP - Leader: Levi Miller, DNAP

Located in northern Hocking County at the edge of the Hocking Hills Region, Boch Hollow provides an excellent opportunity to see a wide diversity of habitats ranging from rpiarian corridors, mature wooded hills, ridges, and old field remnants. Boch Hollow has the largest population of the Federally Endangered Running Buffalo Clover in Ohio.This hike will be moderate in difficulty.

Limit: 25 people

Clear Creek Metro Park – Leader: John Watts, Columbus MP

The Clear Creek Valley is a special scientific, scenic and geologic area where as many as 18 species of warblers are reported to nest and more than 800 vascular plants have been recorded. This field trip will be easy to moderate in difficulty.

Limit: 30 people.

Rhododendron Cove SNP - Leaders: Jim Davidson & Jeff Johnson, DNAP

This 75-acre preserve is within the Sugar Grove Region of the Hocking Hills. A relatively strenuous hike to the top of the dry ridgeline affords a view of the Hocking River Valley to the east. This field trip will be moderate to strenuous in difficulty; we may divide into two groups.

Limit: 25 people.
