Event description

Description

4.5 CME Credits Available

Physicians and physician assistants are uniquely positioned to serve as leading voices in healthcare policy. When they are not equipped to rise to that responsibility, others do. But amidst the daily demands of practice and the one-to-one focus on each patient, how can providers find the time and energy to put their expertise to work in the public sphere?

REGISTER NOW to join your OMA colleagues on September 28, 2019 at the Hilton Portland Downtown for a full day of education, networking, and community.

The event is designed to help participants reclaim their ability to affect change within the healthcare system, and to prepare them in practical ways to advocate for their profession and their patients.

Attendees will leave the event with new insight into some of the most acute issues affecting their practices.

General Sessions: Making a Difference, Using Your Voice

  • Opening remarks by Dr. Patrice Harris, President-elect of the American Medical Association. Dr. Harris will describe the future of medicine and the role of medical associations in your practice.
  • Keynote address by Dr. Alisha Moreland Capuia of Oregon Health & Science University. How can physicians and physician assistants use their own voices and agency to impact healthcare systems and policies?
  • Keynote address by Dr. Kevin Pho of the KevinMD blog. Social media and an online presence are powerful platforms to amplify the voice of healthcare. Dr. Pho will explain how.
