Event description
A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO COACHING THE MODERN ATHLETE: Developing the Building Blocks for Athletes at All Levels

About this Event

Recognizing that every athlete has a diverse background and learning style is critical for effective teaching and coaching at all levels. The 2019 Midwest Sports Performance Conference will focus not only on the importance of this interaction between coach and athlete, but also on the complexities of programming and training throughout a season or seasons.

This year’s guest speakers will highlight the importance of positive coaching, purposeful cueing, and creating an environment that fosters deliberate practice of skillful movement. The programming and training sessions will focus on overcoming the challenges of training athletes who participate in multiple sports over multiple seasons. In addition, this year’s line-up will include discussions on how to incorporate scientifically based practices into program goals.

Attendees will have the opportunity to interact and connect with sports performance professionals, including the KU staff, in the classroom and the performance facility throughout the day, as well as during lunch and the cocktail social.
