Nursing today presents unique, complex, and varied patient care challenges. This conference is an opportunity to explore emerging trends in healthcare and implications for nursing, describe evidence-based management of selected clinical situations, and discuss selected topics related to patient safety.

Lieutenant Colonel Juanita Warman was a certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who specialized in treating post traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury. Her distinguished military career on Active Duty and the Reserves spanned more than two decades. She served in the Unites States and Europe, and as an activated reservist at Madigan, she served as the Hospital Bed Manager. Seeking a deployment that would take her downrange and closer to soldiers, LTC Warman volunteered for deployment to Iraq to better treat military personnel serving overseas. She had been at Fort Hood for only 24 hours, preparing for a deployment to Iraq, when she and 12 others were shot and killed, on November 5, 2009.

This will be the 10th Annual Nursing Conference hosted by Madigan Army Medical Center held in her honor.
