2019 Leeway x Icebox Project Residency Information Session
Event Information
Description
The Leeway Foundation and the Icebox Project Space have partnered to offer a two-week residency to a past Leeway grantee at the Icebox Project Space June 17-30th, 2019. This year’s residency will focus on experimental and time-based works that make use of the Icebox’s unique spatial characteristics, including but not limited to video, performance and movement. Leeway Foundation grantees of all artistic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal for an exhibition or performance at the Icebox (Crane Arts Building, 1400 N. American St., Philadelphia).
The deadline to apply is March 5, 2019.
An open house and information session will be held at the Icebox on February 10, 2:00-4:00pm, to help applicants understand the possibilities and available resources, and to address logistical questions. Childcare is available by request.
The selected artist-in-residence will receive a $1,500 stipend from Leeway to cover costs associated with supplies and implementation of the work, as well as on-site support and consultation from Icebox directors and staff throughout the project. The artist-in-residence will emerge from the process with a one-of-a-kind exhibition experience, documentation, and increased technical know-how.
As part of the residency, the artist will be required to offer a public exhibition, performance, or presentation of the work.
