Event Details

Historically speaking, “Beer should never be consumed further from its source than a horse can walk in a day”. That’s a quote from the late great UK pioneer Peter Austin, often referred to as the Godfather of Microbrewing, and an early take on what it means to be local, and sustainable. Well, we don’t have any horses around the brewery. But one thing we do have is BIKES!

So every Spring, for the last fifteen years we’ve been leading a slow rolling procession of bicycles through Pittsburgh, with hundreds of pounds of FRESH LOCAL BEER in tow, as we release our Pedal Pale Ale at a mystery destination. It’s also one of our biggest charity events of the year, and this year we’re raising money for Auberle Foster Care Foundation.

Below is all the info, or if you’re an old pro, you can just BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!

THE RIDE:

On Saturday morning, April 27th, 2018, we’ll set off with a few kegs and hundreds of our GOOD FRIENDS to a mystery destination to debut this year's Pedal Pale Ale. The trip will be slow, meandering, and maybe a little surprising – especially the secret destination!

CAN WE BUY YOU A BEER?
For everyone that rides, your first beer is on East End Brewing. The more riders, the more beer we have to pull… but we'll take care of that part for you.

THE PARTICULARS:

  • Time: 9:30-10:30am sign-in, 11am departure, arrival at destination likely between 12 and 1pm

  • Date: Saturday, April 27th, 2019.

  • Starting Point: East End Brewing Co. 147 Julius St. Pgh, Pa 15206

  • Destination: You’ve gotta ride to find out!

  • Return trip: You’re on your own.

  • Distance: 6-11 miles

  • Pace: Gentle, slow. Remember that part about pulling full kegs?

  • Registration: $25

  • There is NO Day-of-Ride Registration.

COST:

$25 for online registration. There will be NO day-of registration.  Registration ends the Friday before the event at noon. Sorry, no refunds or transfers. But know that your funds will go to a good cause.

SWAG:

  • You'll get a commemorative East End Brewing Keg Ride Glass to call your very own, so be sure to bring a bag or a busboy to carry it home.

  • Buy a sweet Keg Ride T-shirt for just $20. To have them printed in time you'll need to register for one before 4/1/18

THE CAUSE:

We’re raising money to support the Auberle Foundation, a local non-profit that supports Foster Care in and around Allegheny County, and a cause close to our our hearts. Learn more at https://www.auberle.org/foster-care

WANNA PULL A KEG?

Feeling strong and want to pull a full keg at the front of the ride? Email Nordy at nordy@eastendbrewing.com and for a $200 donation you can be King Keg for a day!

CAN KIDS COME?

Yes. But be advised that this ride is on OPEN CITY STREETS.  And of course the kids don't get a beer at the end of the ride. Maybe a Root Beer though.

TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW:

As you know, we do LOTS of events every year... Beer Dinners, Festivals, Volunteer Days, but this ride is probably my favorite event of the year.  It's a great excuse to get out on your bike with your GOOD FRIENDS for a day of group riding, some good food, some good fun, some GOOD BEER, and of course a good cause.  So seriously, tell everyone you know about this. The more people we have, the more money we will raise, and the more fun it will be.

See you on the ride!

Since 2004, East End Brewing has been filling Pittsburgh and the surrounding counties of Western Pa with GOOD BEER and GOOD BEER events like this one.  If you can't make the event, you can still stop by the Brewpub in Larimer or the Taproom in the Strip during Growler Hours to sit down for a pint and grab a jug of Fresh Local Beer to go!
