Event description

Description

Idaho State Senator Cheri Buckner-Webb headlines the 2nd annual Jazz for the Hive Fundraiser on Friday, October 19th. Special guests Ashley Rose-Smith, Justin Nielsen, Camden Hughes and Rob Harding will perform a unique mix of originals, improvisations, and jazz standards, with Radio Boise’s Jazz Beyond the Sky host John McCarthy as master of ceremonies.

Proceeds from the event will support The Boise Hive in empowering musicians through access to affordable rehearsal space, mental health services, business tools and resources. Jazz fans of all ages are invited to sit back and enjoy an evening of live jazz music, while helping support Idaho’s only non-profit musician's community and resource center. For more information on how the Boise Hive provides safe, all-ages, sober spaces for fostering a supportive, creative musician’s community in Idaho, visit www.boisehive.org.

This event will include auction items including a live painting by Cody Rutty!

Cody Rutty (b. Pocatello, Idaho 1984) is an American painter living in Boise, Idaho. His work examines what he describes as a process of Iterative Abstraction- the layering of consecutive stages in a work that form a dialog between each other, the artist, and the viewer. He studied architecture and virtual technology at the University of Idaho and fine art at Boise State University. His work has been featured by NPR, Juxtapoz Magazine, The Idaho Statesman, and a trove of blogs and online publications. Rutty's largest work can be found in the collections of Microsoft, Wolfram Alpha, CTA Architects and Engineers, Spacelabs, Perfect Loop, as well as private and public collections across the United States and abroad. Currently he is exploring the intersection of emerging technologies in robotics, virtual reality, and the resulting interplay between traditional painting practices and technology.
