ORGANIZATION PROFILE

The Jamaican Association of Maryland (JAM) began in 1988 out of the need to bring Jamaicans within the metropolitan of Maryland and surrounding communities together to engage in cultural activities indigenous to Jamaica and the Caribbean as we seek to advance the social and economic welfare of people of Caribbean heritage.

The purposes for which the association is organized are exclusively charitable and educational within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Jamaican Association of Maryland is to unite Jamaicans to promote our cultural heritage as we seek ways and means to advance the social and economic welfare of Jamaicans in Maryland and other communities.

THE EVENT

JAM has hosted the celebration of Jamaica’s Independence over 26 years. The event is our annual fundraiser from which proceeds benefit the Jamaican Association of Maryland Claude McKay Scholarship Fund.
Black tie optional.
