Description

iEMBER NETWORK

The Inclusive Environments and Metrics in Biology Education and Research (iEMBER) network is hosting a conference and business meeting on April 4th-5th 2019 at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis. The overall goal of iEMBER is to build a sustainable network of education, psychology, sociology and biology researchers, who also connect with policy and program administrators when developing collaborations aimed at improving inclusivity and retention in biology undergraduate programs.

The iEMBER network was initiated with incubator funding from a NSF RCN-UBE grant (1624169). The April 2019 meeting will include discussion sessions for building a sustainable network, lightning talks followed by networking activities, a diversity/equity/inclusion keynote, and a mini-pitch competition where new collaborations will be formed, ideas pitched, and a small award will be made for the winning team to meet to further the collaboration within a 1-year time frame.
