Event description

Description

The Historic Indian Village Home and Garden Tour Committee is pleased to once again host a TWO DAY tour of selected homes in our beautiful neighborhood.

You can join us on either Saturday or Sunday to view 6 historic homes, 1 garden, 3 churches, and 1 school.

TOUR SCHEDULE:

SATURDAY, June 8th: 10:00am to 5:00pm

SUNDAY, June 9th: 12:30pm to 4:30pm

The Historic Indian Village Home and Garden Tour is celebrating the 124th anniversary of our elegant, historic neighborhood. This is the tour’s 46th year. It is the second oldest historic home tour of its kind in Michigan, preceded only by the Marshall Michigan Historic Home Tour.

New for 2019: In addition to our regular tour, we are offering a guaranteed guided tour ticket.

VIP Curated Tour Experience - very limited availability

Begin your day with coffee and pastries from a uniquely Detroit bakery in a Village home not on this year's tour, then set out on a guided tour lead by a long-time Village resident.

FAQs:

Where do I redeem the advance tickets I just purchased?

Advanced purchases are redeemed on tour day at The Detroit Waldorf School, 2555 Burns Avenue, only. Please print your tickets or bring a photo ID with you to pick up your wristbands and tour books. Online tickets must be picked up at The Detroit Waldorf School only, and only on the day of the tour!

Can I purchase a Guided Tour?

A limited number of guided walking tour tickets can be purchased for an additional $10 when you pick up your advance ticket purchases at The Detroit Waldorf School. The tour should last a maximum of 3 hours. The guided walking tour covers five pre-selected homes and the first guided tour begins on Saturday at 10am and will leave as soon as slots are filled. Sunday’s guided tours begin at 12:30pm. THESE TOURS WILL SELL OUT QUICKLY. All guided tours are subject to availability and are on a first come, first served basis.

A bit more about Guided Tours: “The guided tour is a walking tour with an Indian Village guide. The guided tour takes about 3 hours. The guides provide information about the homes NOT on tour; of course the homes and gardens on the Tour will have information provided by the docents at each site. Tour groups consist of 10-15 people. The guided tour is not for the mobile challenged, although they can use the Tour shuttles if they wish.”

Where can I park?

NOTE: This year, parking within Indian Village will be restricted to only one side of the street in many areas.

AMPLE PARKING will be available at the Whittier, directly across the street from Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church (located at Jefferson & Burns Avenues). Shuttles will be available to bring you into the neighborhood. We highly encourage you to use this lot.

Weather permitting, limited parking will be available across from The Detroit Waldorf School. Note: This lot closes 30 minutes after the Tour's end time. The lot will be locked at 5:30pm on Saturday and 5:00pm on Sunday.

Parking is also available at the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church at the corner of Burns and Jefferson, for a suggested donation of $5.00 per car. This lot fills quickly and is on first come, first served basis - it is usually full well before the tour’s daily start time.

*No liability for damage or theft is assumed by any of the institutions offering on-site parking on tour day.

Is this a walking tour?

Shuttles will run continuously between the houses for those that choose not to walk the neighborhood.

I bought a ticket and now I can't make it. What do I do?

If you did not purchase an Early Bird ticket, you may request a refund from now and Saturday, June 1st. Send a message with your refund request through the Eventbrite link. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER THIS DATE. If you find you can't make it after the refund date, tour tickets make great last minute gifts to friends & family! If you purchased an Early Bird ticket, there are no refunds available at any time.

I'd like to volunteer? How can I sign up?

Visit https://bit.ly/2Nc5HZW to see the current openings. Volunteers have an opportunity to tour the homes for free and attend the Workers' Party Saturday evening.

Who can I contact with any Tour questions?
