Description

The Second Annual Healing Communities Conference will be held on Thursday 4th and 5th, 2019 at The California Endowment in Los Angeles, CA. Registration will open on October 1st at an early bird rate of $200 through December 15th.

The Healing Communities Conference is the second in a series of conferences and gatherings intended to build a network of practitioners and elders that will continue to uplift native/indigenous best practices, and to find viable forms of healing the issues that impact our youth and communities. Through international networking and the exchange of ideas, we will find healthy solutions to our common community challenges.

This conference is a grassroots and international effort with minimal financial support. All presenters and staff will volunteer their time to support this worthy endeavor. We have a strong local and international line-up of renowned presenters predominantly from Canada, the Southwestern U.S. and Southern California. Presenters will share their cultural and indigenous insights and specialized knowledge in healing within our native and indigenous communities.

The Healing Communities Collaborative is made up of community members, parents, elders, healers, activists, organizers and organizations with a shared philosophy that we need to strengthen & preserve our indigenous ways of healing and being. Our organization partners are:

The two day conference registration includes breakfast and lunch for both days and includes an invitation to join us in a traditional ceremony on Thursday evening.

  • Homeboy Industries panel on spirituality and healing with gang involved youth and adults

  • Amber Dion - (Nehiyaw/Cree) MSW and Social Work Professor at Macewan University, Canada
