Event description

Description

The 2019 Greater Cleveland Returned Citizen Symposium: Building Wealth and Inspiring Civic Engagement is an event for formerly incarcerated individuals to celebrate their successful reentry and come together in a community event to discuss wealth building and civic engagement. A diverse set of speakers from Northeast Ohio will discuss the importance of community and civic engagement for returned citizens and opportunities for building wealth in their communities. Attendees can expect to outline a community vision for removing barriers to reentry, better informing individuals of the services and programs serving justice-involved individuals and how the City of Cleveland can grow socially and economically from their re-integration and involvement.

Confirmed speakers are The Honorable Benita Y. Pearson, U.S. District Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio; Damian Calvert, Project Coordinator for the City of Cleveland Community Relations Board; Robin Grimes, Chief of U.S. Pretrial Services and Probation Office for the Northern District of Ohio; DaMareo Cooper, Organizing Director for The Ohio Organizing Collaborative; Katrice Williams, Program Officer for the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry; and LaRick Calhoun, Marketing Consultant for 2Excel Group.
