Join us to celebrate over 100 miles of safe, separated, and connected multi-use trails linking Ogden and Provo on Saturday, May 11.

Move Utah, in partnership with the Wasatch Front Regional Council; the Utah Department of Transportation; Utah Transit Authority; Bike Utah; Jordan River Commission; Mountainland Association of Governments; Utah Department of Health; Utah Governor’s Office of Outdoor Recreation; and Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, and Weber counties, invites you to participate in a group bike ride and family-friendly event to celebrate the Golden Spoke trail network. The Golden Spoke consists of over 100 miles of safe and connected multiuse trails, including Ogden River Parkway, Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail Trail, Legacy Trail, Jordan River Trail, Murdock Canal Trail, and Provo River Parkway, and links Ogden and Provo.

This free event will include a group bike ride that travels north to High Adventure Park in Odgen and. Additionally, there will be community events hosted along the way, as well as the 150 year Golden Spike celebration.

Tentative Times/Places

  • 7:00 a.m: Vivian Park, Provo Canyon (100 mile ride)

  • 9:15 a.m: Bullriver Road Trailhead, Lehi (75 mile ride)

  • 11:30 a.m: Redwood Trailhead Park, South Salt Lake/West Valley City (50 mile ride)

  • 1:45 p.m: Farmington Regional Park, Farmington (25 mile ride)

  • 3:00 p.m: 6000 South Trailhead, Roy (10 mile ride)

  • 3:45 p.m: Twenty First Street Fishing Pond, Ogden (1.5 mile ride)

  • 4:00 p.m: High Adventure Park, Ogden (ride end, enjoy the Spike 150 event!)

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to start, to allow for check-in.

I understand the inherent physical risks associated with participating in the Golden Spoke trail ride, and related events and activities, and assume the liability for personal harm or injury sustained during the event.

I certify that I am physically fit and have not been advised to not participate by a qualified medical professional. I certify that there are no health-related reasons or problems which preclude my participation in this event. I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form will be used by the organizers of the Golden Spoke in which I may participate and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities.

In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in this Golden Spoke trail ride, and related events and activities, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:

(A)I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the entities or persons released, for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter occur to me including my traveling to and from the Golden Spoke event. THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: Wasatch Front Regional Council, Jordan River Commission, Mountainland Association of Governments, Davis County, Salt Lake County, Weber County, Utah County, Utah Department of Transportation, Utah Transit Authority, and/or their employees, agents, representatives or volunteers.

(B) I INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE NOT TO SUE the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in the Golden Spoke event, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

I acknowledge that the Golden Spoke event may carry with it the potential for death, serious injury, and personal loss. The risks may include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic, actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, spectators, and lack of hydration.

The accident waiver, release of liability and image release shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENT. I AM AWARE THAT REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT, AND I HAVE REGISTERED ON MY OWN FREE WILL.

The registered parent and or natural guardian does hereby represent that he/she is, in fact, acting in such capacity, has consented to his/her child or ward’s participation in the Golden Spoke event, and has agreed individually and on behalf of the child or ward, to the terms of the accident waiver and release of liability set forth above. The registered parent or guardian further agrees to save and hold harmless and indemnify each and all parties referred to above from all liability, loss, cost, claim, or damage whatsoever which may be imposed upon said parties because of any defect on lack of such capacity to so act and release said parties on behalf of the minor and the parents or legal guardian.
