What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is a very special month for Muslims in which they fast (no eating or drinking) from sunrise to sunset. They also increase their spiritual activities and charity to others. At sunset friends, family, and neighbors gather to end their fast – this is called Iftar. Muslims usually break their fast with dates and other cultural foods. Sharing a meal is a timeless tradition that builds relationships and bonds people together. We hope you can join us for this special gathering to make new and connect with old friends. Let’s meet, greet, break a fast together (even if you aren’t fasting) and hear from a few known and emerging Muslim Women athletes who are breaking barriers and setting records. We want to share their amazing stories and hear your stories too! For non-Girl Scouts, we also look forward to sharing our Girl Scout traditions with you. Please join us!

Do I have to be Muslim to come?

Nope!! In fact, the point of this event is to welcome anyone in the community to share a night with us and hear from our keynote speaker, dine with us, get a feel for what Ramadan is about, and remain in touch afterwards if you like. Just come and enjoy!
