Event description

Description

Florida Data Science for Social Good (FL-DSSG) program hosted at the University of North Florida blends data science and technology design to inform and solve critical social problems in the State of Florida. FL-DSSG program is an intensive 12-week internship that invites students to tackle data-rich projects that have the potential for substantial social impact. The internship program runs from June 3rd to August 23rd, supports eleven interns, and five public sector organizations. Each project addresses a wicked problem facing Florida residents, such as arts education, health disparities, food deserts, environmental conservation, and behavioral healthcare.

At the event, FL-DSSG interns will discuss findings and reveal insights gained from the Cathedral Arts Project, Children's Services Council, Feeding Northeast Florida, GTM Research Reserve, and Starting Point Behavioral Healthcare projects. The University of North Florida Foundation funds 2019 FL-DSSG internship program. Fl-DSSG program is a partnership between the University of North Florida and the Nonprofit Center for Northeast Florida. All are welcome to attend.
