About Coding Swift 2 Camp

Campers who attended the Coding Swift Camp in 2017 or 2018 now have a chance to dive back into the Swift Coding language! Picking up up where they left off, campers will learn more complex components through the same Swift Playgrounds app. Campers will also participate in fun STEAM lab breaks along the way and prepare a fun presentation for friends and family to show off all their accomplishments.

Special Notes:

  • Those who register for this camp MUST have attended our original Swift Coding camp held in 2017 and 2018. Campers who attended the 2018 Panda Ambassador Camp are eligible as well. If your camper continued in their learning path after our original camps, completing the Learn To Code 3 lessons, this camp is not recommended.

  • If your child has not attended an original Swift Coding Camp but has experience with Swift coding through the Swift Playgrounds app and would benefit from this camp, please contact Kary Wells, kary@uidaho.edu to discuss further.

  • In order to successfully facilitate this camp, we must have a minimum of 12 registrants. If the camp is cancelled, registrations will be refunded.

Program Details and Policies

Please review the information below and notify us if you have any questions. You will need to indicate acceptance of these policies during registration.

Camp Fees and Payment: U of I Coeur d'Alene has instituted a "pay what you can" policy for our Dig'nIT summer camps so as to reduce barriers to educational access. No child should be denied a great summer experience because of financial hardship. Suggested value of our camps:

  • $150 for full-day/week-long camps
  • $75 for half day, week-long camps
  • $20 for single, half-day labs

If you cannot afford some or all of registration this year, we understand. No need to explain. While completing Eventbrite registration, enter whatever amount you feel is fair for your financial position.

If you are paying by check or cash, payment is due to the Coeur d'Alene Harbor Center no later than the registration deadline, and can be mailed or delivered to: University of Idaho CDA, c/o Swift Coding 2 Camp, 1031 N. Academic Way, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814.

Registration Guidelines: Registration is competitive and first-come, first-served unless otherwise noted. Registration typically closes one week before camp; review the specific camp details above for deadline date.

Campers are committing to attend the full length of the camp. If your camper cannot attend one or more days, consider enrolling your child next year as the camp experience is reliant on full-time attendance. If for some reason you realize before camp starts that your registered camper won't be able to attend the camp, please notify center staff as soon as possible so that we may admit a waitlisted camper. Refunds cannot be processed after the registration deadline.

For your child to attend, you and the camper must complete a standard camp liability waiver found here.

This waiver must be submitted to center staff on the first day of camp. We will have blank waivers available if you cannot print the waiver at home. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early to complete. Your camper cannot begin camp until the waiver is complete.

Pickup/Dropoff: Parents, plan for yourself or a proxy to check your camper in and out each day of camp. Campers can be checked in no earlier than 30 minutes before camp and checked out no later than 30 minutes after camp. In the event of an unscheduled delay in dropping off or picking up, please be communicative with center staff in order to keep the camp instructor/assistant up to date!

Meals and snacks: Please send your camper with a lunch if they are attending a full-day camp unless otherwise noted above. If they are attending a half-day camp, do not send them with a lunch.

At this time, U of I Coeur d'Alene cannot accommodate dietary restrictions. If the attendee has an allergy that prevents them from eating snacks provided, please be sure they attend with a morning and afternoon snack in addition to their lunch for a full-day camp and a morning snack for a half-day camp or lab. Snack options will consist of: string cheese, fruit, or granola bar. Please make sure the attendee knows what they can or cannot consume as we cannot guarantee non-exposure to allergens.

Special Accommodations: If your camper has special needs and requires a special needs accommodation, please email Juli Anderson at julianaa@uidaho.edu detailing their needs before the camp so we may discuss.

Behavior Guidelines: University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene's Dig'nIT summer camps have a strict no-tolerance policy with regard to bullying or disruptive behavior. If bullying or behavioral issues occur, the instigator's parent/guardian will be contacted immediately for pick up.
