Description
The City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services (DPS) is hosting its 7th annual Construction Summit.
This event will feature over 65 exhibitors providing information and assistance to attendees about upcoming contraction opportunities with government and employment resources. Speak with subject-matter experts from government agencies, assist agencies, and support agencies to give your business the tools needed to bid on and earn government contracts. This is a great for prime contractors, sub-contractors, and construction-related business owner to network and form lasting connections for collaboration on future construction projects.
Attendees will also be able to attend curated workshops focusing on construction opportunities, how to become certified, and employment resources. These workshops provide valuable information to help our vendor community compete for and earn government contracts.

RESOURCES TO START, RUN AND GROW YOUR BUSINESS - Presented by Kenya Merritt
Presented by the City of Chicago Department of Business Affairs & Consumer Protection (BACP) Whether you’re a startup, established, or about to expand your business, find out what resources are available to business owners. In this workshop, entrepreneurs will learn what small business resources are being offered by the City of Chicago, chambers of commerce, delegate agencies, and other community partners.

CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (CDOT) “FIRST LOOK”
This workshop is geared toward those looking to learn about construction-related opportunities with the City of Chicago. The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be providing a “First Look” at contracting opportunities that will be available as part of the new Obama Presidential Center and other projects. CDOT officials will be on hand to provide an overview of the work that is needed, including paving, site grading, landscaping, watermain installation, as well as lighting and other electrical work.

Subject matter experts will be on-hand to answer questions about common certification topics. The City of Chicago offers the following certifications: Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE), Veteran-Owned Business (VBE), Business Enterprise for People with Disabilities (BEPD), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) and Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE).

The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership & City of Chicago Department of Family & Support Services (DFSS) will provide an overview of programs that assist individuals in becoming apprentices and how to be matched with opportunities. Additionally, panelists will discuss how other training resources can assist employers with meeting their hiring goals.

AN INTRODUCTION TO THE JOB ORDER CONTRACT (JOC) PROGRAM - Presented by Michael Judd, Account Manager, Gordian Group.
A Job Order Contract (JOC) is another delivery method for the City of Chicago to procure construction services. JOC is a firm, fixed price, competitive bid with indefinite quantity, delivery method designed to produce a large number of multi-traded, repair and rehabilitation projects, as well as, minor new construction projects quickly.
