Event description

Description

Join MarineLab's biologist/instructors in a week long exploration of the marine communities in the Upper Keys. Days are spent aboard our boats, snorkeling the seagrasses, mangroves, and coral reefs protected by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, Everglades National Park and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. All workshops are content oriented and are designed for the middle and high school science teacher. Recharge your batteries, get excited about using marine science in YOUR curriculum, and get continuing education points at the same time!

This program focuses on the basics of the marine ecology of the Upper Keys. Field trips to the seagrass, mangrove, and coral reef communities are planned, with additional field trips to other marine communities, and a brief look at restoration efforts on the coral reef. Participants should be comfortable in the water, but need not be experienced swimmers or snorkelers.

Cost: $450 per person. Workshop fees are all-inclusive except for transportation to MarineLab: meals, accommodations, field trips, evening activities, and snorkel gear are all provided. Please note: we will be focusing on workshop content during the week. If you would like to do some tourism activities during your visit to the Keys, please plan on doing that before or after the workshop. We cannot accommodate early arrivals, but staying an additional evening is optional with advance notice.

Enroll by registering and pay a deposit of $100. The balance will be collected upon arrival.
