Event description
Welcome to the 2019 Citizens’ Climate Lobby Virginia State Conference!

About this Event

Please join us at the annual Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) Virginia State Conference!

CCL builds the political will for our elected representatives to take action on climate change. And with the reintroduction into Congress of The Energy Innovation & Carbon Dividend Act, an effective, bipartisan climate bill, that political will is more important than ever! This year, we’ll use our consistently respectful, nonpartisan approach and our shared values to make this strong, fair climate legislation a reality.

Our State Conference is an opportunity for newcomers and longtime CCL members to gather to learn, practice skills, inspire each other, and strategize in moving our country toward climate solutions.

Tickets are free, though we gratefully accept donations when registering or at the door to cover our luncheon costs which are estimated to be approximately $12.00 per person. Lunch options are provided when registering.

We are closing Eventbrite registration on October 4 for lunch orders. But will welcome late-comers at the door of the Conference.

For more information, contact Greg Haugan (greghaugan@gmail.com).

AGENDA

The 2019 conference will feature:

  • A call to action from climate advocate Erik Curren, author of "Abolish Oil Now" and "The Solar Patriot."
  • A legislative update on the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (H.R.763) and CCL's strategy for success in the House and Senate.
  • A training on how to use Motivational Interviewing skills to have more productive conversations and lobby meetings that build support for climate action.
  • A brainstorming session on how CCL chapters across Virginia can expand our existing networks and bring more voices into our movement.
  • A panel discussion about CCL's outreach strategy for Virginia's Congressional delegation and how volunteers can help.
