Description

The Child Abuse Prevention and Family Support Conference brings more than 400 professionals with a focus on improving well-being in Iowa families. National and state experts share the latest research and strategies among service sectors including family support, early childhood, education, health care and social work. This nationally recognized event increases the knowledge, skills and collaboration needed to improve the future well-being of our state.

Prevent Child Abuse Iowa is happy to bring this valuable education to all family support professionals in Iowa and thanks our presenting sponsor the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program with the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Pre-Conference - The pre-conference will allow family home visiting and support workers opportunity to hone daily practices through specialized break-out session. Registration includes refreshments and lunch. All Registrations must be received by April 29th, 2019.

Conference - The conference will include 25 dynamic sessions centered around home visiting, infant and children mental health, trauma informed practices, adolescent support, board development, parent supports, community wrap-around services, mental healh, and sexual health. The conference will also include two keynote speakers, a lunch, and an awards ceremony.

Reception - The reception will be held the night of May 6th and will provide entertainment while recognizing families and those who have provided support to families in Iowa.

Connections Matter Pre-Conference Training 9am - 4pm - Connections Matter is a community effort. We want everyone to know that fostering caring relationships with the children, families, and adults in your life matters for developing healthy brains, supportive relationships, and thriving communities. Through an interactive, discussion-based curriculum this workshop develops knowledge surrounding the importance of trauma informed practices in mitigating negative physical and mental health outcomes by focusing on how to build relationships and resilience. Connections Matter pre-conference will include a lunch break.
