Event description

Description

The Cape Cod Bay Challenge (CCBC) is the oldest and most recognized standup paddle (SUP) event in the Northeast. After 10 years of paddling across Cape Cod Bay, last year, we mixed it up a bit and our course was a 22-mile coastal course starting at Scusset Beach and ending at Duxbury Beach. It was an awesome paddle and in 2019 we plan to do it again.

The 2019 CCBC will start at either Scusset Beach or Nantasket Beach and end at Duxbury Beach. The location of the start will be decided about a week out from the event and will be based on the forecast weather and wind (looking to have the wind at our backs if possible)

In 2019 we are implementing another change in an effort to make the event more accessible to paddlers. The board length requirement will be dropped from 12'6" to 11'+. We highly recommend using a longer race board but if you believe you have the conditioning and paddle skills to maintain the necessary pace on a shorter recreational board, we would be excited to have you join us.

In addition, the 2019 CCBC will again be open to relay teams of 2 people maximum. This mean two paddlers can split the 22-miles. While one participant paddles, the other will ride on one of the support boats. Relay Teams will only be allowed to change paddlers at one of our designated breaks.

The CCBC is unique as it is not a race. Paddlers make the journey, supporting each other along the way. Irreplaceable bonds are formed between paddlers during the journey. The sense of family and community that is felt at the finish line and the after party is amazing. The CCBC is unlike any other event.

The event is scheduled to take place on July 27th. The paddle portion of the event will run from approximately 7am - 4pm. After the paddlers land on Duxbury Beach, there will be an after party/fundraiser at Blakeman's Restaurant which is just off the beach. The party will start around 4pm and run until 10pm and there will be food, beverages, live music and awesome raffle & auction items to take home.

Live music with the sweet reggae sound of the The Elovators will begin around 7pm.

Registration to the after party & live music after are open to the public but in order to attend you must register via Eventbrite as there will be very limited day of tickets
