Event description

Description

The annual Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference is presented by the William & Mary Property Rights Project and is named in recognition of Toby Prince Brigham and Gideon Kanner for their lifetime contributions to private property rights. The conference is designed to bring together members of the bench, bar, and academia to explore recent developments in the law that affect property rights. The Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Conference began in 2004 at William & Mary Law School.

Each year, the conference awards the Brigham-Kanner Property Rights Prize to an individual whose work has advanced the cause of property rights and has contributed to the overall awareness of the important role property rights occupy in the broader scheme of individual liberty. This year's award recipient is Professor Emeritus Steven J. Eagle of the Antonin Scalia School of Law at George Mason University.

The Conference will begin with the annual Prize Dinner honoring Steven Eagle on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the historic Christopher Wren Building. The conference panels will be held at the William & Mary Law School from 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2019. The Conference has traditionally been approved for 4 - 6 CLE credits in Virginia. Panel and round table topics will be announced.
