25th ANNUAL BEL CANTO OPERA
This year, we celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Opera. What began as a fundraising effort has continued to bring spectacular up-and-coming opera talent to the hilltowns each year. Eve Queler, Music Director Emerita of Opera Orchestra of New York and part-time Blandford resident, is the force behind this longstanding event. Please join us for this enjoyable à la carte performance – a wonderful taste of opera.

Saturday, July 27 at 7:30pm
TRIO DELLA LUNA
The Trio will perform a sparkling and witty early trio by Beethoven, an effervescent and sometimes sassy trio by the great French woman composer, Germaine Tailleferre, and Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich’s passionate and deeply ironic Op. 67 Piano trio. The trio members, Kathleen Thomson (violin), Mary Wooten (cello), and Marcia Eckert (piano), are each accomplished musicians who have performed individually in such notable locations as London’s Leighton House, Avery Fisher Hall, Merkin Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Carnegie Hall, and Lincoln Center.

Saturday, August 10 at 7:00pm
JEFF GAVIOLI & THE BAD NEWS JAZZ & BLUES ORCHESTRA
The Bad News Jazz & Blues Orchestra is an 18 piece Big Band playing favorites and classics from the Big Band Era, from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington to the Blues Brothers and Earth, Wind and Fire. This Holyoke-based group made its debut at an outdoor concert at the Florence Community Center in 2012. Since then, it has appeared throughout Western Massachusetts.
Sponsored in part by the Blandford Cultural Council

Saturday, August 24 at 7:30pm
LYNELLE JAMES, PIANIST
Lauded by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as a “truly fine musician” who “knows how to let the music’s beauty stand out and speak for itself and she executes it superbly,” Dr. Lynelle James has performed at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall in New York City, and in concert halls across the United States, Italy, Canada, New Zealand and the Caribbean.
