Description

Four Exclusive Workshops, Held June 10-18, 2019, at the University of Maryland’s World-Class Facilities

Learn how to produce and purify biopharmaceutical products at the University of Maryland's Bioprocess Scale-Up Facility this June.

Taught by world-class faculty and practitioners, this hands-on, one-week training includes three sessions with four workshop options. For the first session, choose between a Cell Culture Technologies Workshop or a Fermentation and Microbiology Workshop from June 10-11. The second session is a Downstream Processing and Protein Purification Workshop from June 12-14. The third and final session is a training on Analytical Sciences co-hosted by BREP and NIST from June 17-18.

**For group sales (3+ tickets), please contact esten@umd.edu**

Cell Culture Technologies Workshop: June 10-11

This workshop features hands-on instruction with various cell culture expression systems and introduces attendees with the techniques, methodologies, principles, and applications of anchorage dependent and suspension adapted cell lines. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants not only to learn the principles of cell culture scale-up at the bench, but also covers recent advances and up-to-date applications of this methodology including single-use systems.

Fermentation Microbiology Workshop: June 10-11

This workshop features hands-on instruction with various fermentation systems and acquaints attendees with the techniques, methodologies, principles and applications of aerobic bacterial and fungal fermentation. The workshop provides an opportunity for participants not only to learn the principles of bacterial and fungal fermentation scale-up at the bench, but also covers recent advances and up-to-date applications of this methodology.

Downstream Processing & Protein Purification Workshop: June 12-14

This workshop features hands-on laboratory exercises and classroom instruction on recovery and purification strategies for biotechnology products, especially proteins. Participants will integrate theory with practice in areas such as cell separation, cell disruption, chromatography theory and systems, sample preparation, columns and packing, adsorptive chromatography, and elution optimization.

Register for the first two sessions and receive a 20% discount. Academic and government discounts are also available. Call (301) 405-3889 or e-mail biotech@umd.edu for details.

BREP/NIST Analytical Sciences Training: June 17-18

This industry-driven and application-focused laboratory workshop offers an avenue for training the next generation of biopharmaceutical analytical scientists. Laboratory experience utilizing NIST reference materials will provide an unparalleled simulation of industry-relevant characterization technologies. This is a robust training workshop with an integrated, targeted focus on product quality.

Don't miss this opportunity for hands-on instruction in producing biopharmaceuticals from experts with decades of experience in processing biopharmaceuticals for companies of all sizes, as well as state and federal laboratories!
