Please join the Minnetonka Alumni Association as we celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding alumni and former faculty members on Saturday, September 28 at our awards brunch. The ninth annual event will be held from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Minnetonka High School.

We will proudly honor alumni and former faculty members in following categories:

Distinguished Alumni Award - This award is Minnetonka’s premier alumni honor, recognizing distinguished professional achievement, distinguished leadership and/or distinguished service toward the greater good.

  • Michael Bussey ‘65
    For 40 years, Mike worked with the YMCA in the United States and Israel. Due to his leadership in the Middle East branch, the group was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Edward Deutschlander ‘89
    Dedicated to improving the lives of others, Ed was named CEO of North Star Resource Group, a company that offers financial services and advice to those in need.

  • Robert Naegele ‘57 (posthumus)
    Bob was a lifelong leader and community citizen. From his support of Minnesota hockey to his work with local charities, Bob was a role model to all.

Distinguished Service Award - Open to any Minnetonka alumni, recognizing significant volunteer service benefiting the greater good, philanthropic leadership or service/contribution to the MAA.

  • William Loeber ‘69
    Bill is the founder of Operation Connect, an organization that helps veterans transition back into the working world by partnering them with influential business leaders.

Young Alum Achievement Award - This award honors alumni within fifteen years of graduating from Minnetonka High School for distinguished post-secondary academic achievement, professional achievement, distinguished leadership and/or distinguished service toward the greater good.

  • Craig Bantz ‘04
    Craig overcame personal and financial challenges to graduate from the U of M. He has since gone on to become the chief digital officer at Ohio University.

  • Kelsy Zimba ‘04
    Kelsy is a leader in the world of fashion. She has her own clothing label, ZIMBA, and has designed everything from dresses to school uniforms.

MHS Skippers Hall of Fame (Arts, Activities, Athletics) - The Skippers Hall of Fame inducts individuals or teams for achievements in arts, activities and athletics. Induction reflects achievements that stand the test of time.

  • Rob LaRue ‘97
    Rob stands out as one of Minnetonka’s most accomplished multi-sport athletes, lettering in football, hockey and baseball during his time at Minnetonka.

  • Gary Peterson ‘59
    Gary was a truly inspiring athlete. He lettered in football, basketball, tennis and track. Later, he returned to Minnetonka Schools as a teacher and coach.

Faculty Hall of Fame - The Faculty Hall of Fame honors Minnetonka School District teachers or administrators who inspired in students a passion to excel with confidence and hope.

  • Susan Adamek
    Sue was a brilliant social studies teacher and powerful female role model. She encouraged each student to become passionate and engaged in their education.

  • Juris Terauds
    As a drafting teacher at MHS, Juris taught students not only about the skills needed in the field of architecture, but also the importance of working hard and being creative.
