Event description

Description

Ahead of the Curve (AOTC) is an annual conference held by Recovery Resource Council and Dallas Area Drug Prevention Partnership (DADPP). Each year, we focus on a different aspect of substance misuse prevention education. This year's lineup is one you won't want to miss! We hope you will join us!

AOTC 2019: Prevention with Attitude

Attitude is defined as “a feeling or emotion toward a fact.”

Culture is defined as “the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes a group of people, an institution, or an organization.”

AOTC 2019 will explore the many cultural influences that form youth's attitudes and perceptions as they relate to substance misuse. As parents, school personnel, law enforcement, prevention specialists, faith based leaders, and treatment providers, we must all be informed and engaged to successfully protect and redirect our youth from the dangers of drug and alcohol use.

Our speakers include Baqi Martin, Director of Clinical Services at Clearfork Academy, Dr. Eden Hernandez Robles, Director of Empower Change at Paso del Norte Center for Mental and Emotional Well-being at The University of Texas at El Paso, Julie Stevens, Advanced and International Prevention Specialist with Prevention Training Services, and Karen Williams, Youth Development Consultant and Trainer.

5.5 CEU's will be available for LPC, LMFT, LMSW and LCDC. Registration will open at 8:30. The conference will begin at 9:00.

Lunch and CEU’s will be provided for FREE!

For more details about our lineup, please watch for the Presenter Spotlights that will be posted on the DADPP Facebook page soon! https://www.facebook.com/DADPP/
