Event description

Description

Join us for free, Social Studies professional development opportunities offered in Jefferson City throughout the 2019-2020 school year. Social Studies Colloquia IV: Assessing like a Social Scientist will focus on the following questions this year:

  • What did we learn about Missouri student skills and understanding from the EOC field test?
  • What high-quality Social Studies assessment resources are available for K-8 teachers and their students?
  • How can we use that information to positively impact teaching, learning and assessment in our K-12 classrooms?
  • What are the attributes of high-quality assessment? What tools do we have to support educators as they create high quality assessments in their classrooms or across their grade-levels?
  • How can we translate data from assessments into meaningful information for decision-making in the classroom and beyond?

In addition to a focus on assessment, each session highlights a Social Scientist who will share her/ his most current research in history, geography, economics, political science and other social science disciplines. Each session also includes DESE Social Studies updates as well as time for questions and reflection based on participants’ interests and requests,
