Description

Dear Master Gardener,

Become a Garden Docent today and help others to enjoy the vast resources we have to offer at the Ogden Botanical Gardens and the Utah State University Botanical Center. Docents work directly with USU Extension and Garden Staff to oversee garden improvements and support educational activities on site. Docent responsibilities include working with the public at garden events, conducting tours, and sharing their knowledge of horticultural facets found in the gardens. Docents also help train new volunteers and garden apprentices.

You will be given eight specialized training sessions in these areas, on these dates:

  1. Feb 16: Plant Introduction/Greenhouse – USUBC

  2. Mar 16: Pruning/Edibles – USUBC

  3. April 20: Arboretum – USUBC

  4. June 15: Herbaceous Plants -OBG

  5. May 11-12: Public Events – Baby Animal Days

  6. July 13: Garden Design Fieldtrip - USUBC

  7. Aug 17: Diagnostics - OBG

  8. Sep 21: Utah House – USUBC

We will celebrate on Oct 4 with a Docent Appreciation Dinner at the Wetlands Discovery Point.

This program has a 2-year commitment.
