Description
The tradition continues with the fifth annual Women in Sports Day during Quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Squash Championships. Since 2013, the U.S. Open has lead the way in promoting equality, opportunity and prize-money parity in professional squash, a movement that now is worldwide. A comprehensive celebration of US Squash’s vision of ensuring girls and women can advance their lives through squash, Women in Sports Day acknowledges how women are at the core of the squash community and honors the on and off-court achievements of our women leaders.
The U.S. Open is the most prestigious squash tournament in the United States, and one of the most significant in the world. The event forms part of the professional World Series tour for the Professional Squash Association (PSA). It is especially unique as one of only a few combined World Series stops for both the Men’s and Women’s tour, and was a global pioneer in prize money parity.
Starting in 1954, the U.S. Open has a tradition of intense competition in a dynamic atmosphere. It has previously been held in iconic locations such as Michigan Avenue and Millennium Park in Chicago and Symphony Hall in Boston.
Since 2011, the U.S. Open has been held in Philadelphia, at the heart of the squash community, where Drexel University is transformed into a world-class showcase venue.
