Description

Pete Eshelman

TURN Festival welcomes Pete Eshelman as the keynote speaker for Circle City’s celebration of urban sustainability on Saturday, September 29th at 1 p.m.

At age 50, Pete began his third career and became a Farmer and Restaurateur. Pete, his brother Tim, and wife Alice, own Joseph Decuis, the renowned farm to fork culinary enterprise located in Roanoke, Indiana, outside of Ft. Wayne. Over the past 18 years Joseph Decuis has grown from a private corporate dining facility to a culinary destination which includes an Award-Winning gourmet restaurant, a gourmet retail store, two Inns and a farm dedicated to producing food for the restaurant, primarily Wagyu beef. Now when he’s “dressed for the office”, he’s not in a coat and tie now, he’s in jeans and boots and loving it. His favorite quote is: “There is no limit to the good a man can do if he doesn’t care who gets the credit.”

Prior to the founding of Joseph Decuis, upon graduation from Williams College in 1976, Pete was drafted by the New York Yankees' as a minor league player. Upon injury, he moved to the Yankees’ front office. He later incorporated George Steinbrenner’s idea to insure players with multi-year guarantee contracts through insurance and turned that idea into a successful business career. Over the next 25 years, he established two specialty insurances businesses that are now part of public companies.
