Event description

Description

The three pillars of the Think Regional mission are to help facilitate collaborative action across the 15 Counties in SouthWest Ohio, in order to achieve: (1) greater economic growth, (2) more higher-paying, career-oriented jobs, and (3) improved quality of life.

One of the 6 key drivers of these results that was identified by the attendees at our first Summit in 2014 is Transportation and Energy Infrastructure. Most citizens understand that to support a world class economy and quality of life, our region mush have a world class infrastructure. Think Regional is working to build an understanding of the short term needs for repair, the longer term planning for growth, and the options in design and funding needed to make this happen. This will be the focus of the 2018 Summit.

Our two morning panels will share existing and planned actions for economic and job growth to support the investments we need in both Transportation and Energy Infrastructure. Our lunch speaker will provide additional insights into some of the challenges involved in choosing solutions for the future and in funding both the short term repairs and longer term systems needed to support our desired growth in economic activity and quality of life. The very public process that Amazon has been going through to select a site for a new Headquarters facility with perhaps 50,000 high paying jobs has underscored the need for our region to provide a world class Infrastructure in order to attract major private company investments in economic development in our region.

In the afternoon our Issue Action Group small group work sessions will again structured this year after the National Issues Forum Institute format they have developed and use to faciltate open discussions and dialogues on key issues, via a process they describe as "deliberative decision making". These sessions will be led by trained and experienced facilitators, using content developed by the Think Regional Planning Team working with Dr. Bill Muse, who is President Emeritus of the National Issues Forum Institute, a part of the Kettering Foundation in Dayton.

Following the Summit, we plan to have a networking reception and happy hour for all participants.

Please join us for a most important day of discussion, sharing of insights and choosing of solutions and actions in this important element of continued Economic and Job Growth and Quality of Life Improvement across our region.
