Event description

Description

The Stanford Media Preservation Lab will host an unconference for media preservation professionals this summer in Redwood City, California!

On July 17-18, a select group of 20-30 media preservationists will gather at Stanford Libraries’ facility in Redwood City where the SMPL team works. During the first morning, we will collectively develop the program and then follow our shared roadmap for the remaining 1.5 days. We expect there will be many opportunities for all attendees to participate via lightning talks, plenary discussion, small group breakouts, etc. Needless to say, mutual respect will be paramount and a minimum expectation during the event.

After the first day is done, we will have a chance to socialize with attendees of the Cultural Heritage Imaging Professionals conference (AKA Digipalooza) hosted concurrently by Stanford Libraries on main campus. We may also arrange for tours of various labs and centers at Stanford (David Rumsey Map Center, Conservation Services, Born-Digital Forensics Lab, 3D scanning lab, piano roll scanner, etc.). Coffee/tea/etc. and lunch will be provided. A modest registration fee will help to cover these catering costs.
