Event Details

UPDATED Eligibility Requirements for all auditions.

To be eligible to register for the dance program auditions or video submissions, auditioners must FIRST apply for admission academically to Oklahoma City University.

AND

Students (domestic or international) must have at least one of the following:

  • ACT composite score of 20 or above
  • SAT composite score of 950 or above (excluding the writing test) for SAT test taken prior to March 2016
  • SAT composite  score of 1030 or above for SAT test taken March 2016 or after

 

 

Transfer Students: Transfer students are required to submit college transcripts to be evaluated to be eligible to audition.  Transfer students with less than 27 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have qualifying ACT or SAT scores as described above for entering freshmen and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.  Transfer students for all degree programs with over 26 completed semester credit hours of academic courses must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. Transcripts may be sent prior to registering for the audition or immediately after registering. Transcripts do not have to be official copies. Official or unofficial transcripts can be submitted to Patti Biera via email pmbiera@okcu.edu , fax (405-208-5313) or mail (Oklahoma City University Dance, Attn: Patti Biera, 2501 N. ***We have a no refund policy on our dance admission audition tickets (this includes auditioners and observers). ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Please make sure you have first applied academically to Oklahoma City and have met our required ACT/SAT scores in order to be eligible to audition

 

For admission and scholarship consideration:

1)      Dancers must apply academically to Oklahoma City University by March 15, 2018.  

2)      Register for the Audition days by March 15, 2018.  

NOTE:   Attendance/Participation in Friday and Saturday activities are required for Early Decision / Early Commitment Auditioners. Auditioners must complete all technique sessions and the personal performance.

Opportunities for Parents/Observers:

1)      Parents/Observers are welcome to sign up for Friday’s Dance with the Stars Audition Information Day at no additional charge.

2)      Parents/Observers are welcome to watch the performance by the American Spirit Dance Company on Saturday.

3)      ONE observer per auditioner may register for observing the audition classes on Saturday.  See fees for paid observers.

4)      Solo performances will be closed to observers.

1:00-2:00      LUNCH, SERVED ON THE LOWER LEVEL OF THE GAYLORD CENTER

2:00-3:00     TECHNIQUE CLASS (TAP, JAZZ OR BALLET)

3:15-4:15       TECHNIQUE CLASS (TAP, JAZZ OR BALLET)

4:15-6:30      AUDITIONERS' SOLO PERFORMANCES: **
AUDITIONERS PERFORM A DANCE OF YOUR CHOICE TO A CD YOU BRING WITH YOU; LIMIT THIRTY SECONDS PLEASE.

***The dance program will not accept admission audition registrations or video submissions from auditioners (domestic or international) with ACT scores below 20 or SAT scores below 950 (excluding writing test) for tests taken prior to March 2016 or 1030 for test taken March 2016 or after, or where this information has not been provided. Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment

 

The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment was established by Dean John Bedford and Chairman Jo Rowan to educate, train and prepare dancers and managers for the American entertainment industry through degree programs offered by Dance and Arts Management Departments. Dance training emphasizes tap, jazz, musical theater dance, rhythm tap and ballet (as used in musical theater).

The School offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Performing Arts in Dance Performance, Bachelor of Science in Dance Management, Bachelor of Science in American Dance Pedagogy, and Bachelor of Science in Entertainment Business.

Admission to all dance degree programs is by selective audition.

The School is located in the Edith Kinney Gaylord Center, a world-class facility for teaching arts management and dance.

Former students and graduates can be found performing, teaching, or managing throughout the world, from Broadway and L.A. to Tokyo and beyond.

**Please note:  For workshops and intensives, wearing eyeglasses during dance class is prohibited, in accordance with the Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Entertainment policies and procedures.  Thank you for your understanding.
