Welcome to the Annual Professional Gala event for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - Twin Cities Professional Chapter (SHPE-TC). This event is our 7th annual professional gala, which includes our scholarship awards presentation. This year we are proud to feature Ms. Iliette Frontera, Production Director at Boston Scientfic, as our keynote speaker.

During this event, SHPE-TC will be awarding over $10,000 worth of scholarships to deserving Latino/Hispanic engineering students on behalf of our sponsors 3M, Hormel Foods, Abbott, Medtronic, Mortenson Construction, Boston Scientific, and Eaton Corporation.

Ms. Frontera has over 16 years of experience, the majority of those within the Medical Device industry. She joined Boston Scientific in 2005 as a Quality Engineer at the Dorado, PR site and has held manager positions in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production. In 2015, she became the Dorado Production Director and has recently transitioned to Maple Grove as the site’s Production Director. She was named one of Caribbean Business 40 under 40 Leaders in 2016.

Ms. Frontera holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. She has been actively engaged in Diversity & Inclusion efforts through ERG support, D&I councils, and programs such as EXCELerate.

The networking event will feature live classical guitar music, with local Latin music stars Salsa del Soul closing the event. Salsa del Soul will feature a mix of energetic vocal dance music and Latin jazz.

The Gale Mansion is a beautiful historic mansion located just south of downtown Minneapolis. Built in 1912, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2011 the Gale Mansion remodeling project was one of the eight building project awards recognized by Preserve Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Heritage Preservation Commission, and the Minneapolis chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The 40-acre area in Fairs Oaks was purchased in 1855 for $50 as a suburban development.


Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Under age (less than 18 years old age) minors must be accompanied by an adult, either a teacher or a parent.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

SHPE Twin Cities will cover the cost of valet parking if you drive. There is also on-street parking available nearby, as well as Metro Transit bus service (routes #2 and #11).

I would like a vegan meal, how can I request that?

Please email Hernan Mercado-Corujo at president@shpetwincities.org with your request for a vegan meal request by end of day Friday April 13th.

What's the refund policy? Can I update my registration information? Or is my ticket tranferrable?

Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds. You can transfer your ticket to another person. Any name change is considered a ticket transfer. Please provide name changes 24 hours advance notice.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not necessary to bring your printed ticket to the event, just bring your ID.
