Event description

Description

On Friday September 21, 2018, Hawai‘i P-20 Partnerships for Education will host the 2018 science summit How the Next Generation Science Standards Intersect with College and Career Readiness. This statewide summit will convene Hawai‘i Department of Education and higher education administrators, science faculty, and teacher preparation faculty to consider the role the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) play in preparing students for college and career readiness. One main objective for the summit is to promote discussions about best practices for implementing NGSS to ensure every student in Hawai‘i has equal access to opportunities for success in higher education science courses. Speakers will include both local and national experts including Dr. Stephen Pruitt who served on the National Academies of Science Committee on Conceptual Framework for New Science Education Standards which developed the Framework for K-12 Science Education, a foundational document for NGSS.
