The Eleventh Annual Santa Clara County Children's Summit invites community leaders to forge new partnerships and work across boundaries to achieve goals of the Children's Agenda: Every child safe, healthy, successful in learning, successful in life.

7:30 - 8:00 a.m. Registration, Breakfast, and Networking

8:00 - 9:30 a.m. Morning Plenary Session including:

  • How Are the Children? 2018 Children's Agenda Data Book Update - Dr.Mary Ann Dewan, Acting Superintendent at the Santa Clara County Office of Education

  • Reflection Panel: Moving the Needle on Equity and Justice -- Facilitated by Monique Miles. Director of the Opportunity Youth Incentive Fund and Director of the Aspen Forum for Community Solutions at the Aspen Institute

10:00 - 11:00 a.m Special Topic Workshops

  • A Racial and Health Equity Framework to Achieve Equitable Outocmes for Children and Families

  • The Sacramento Political and Policy Landscape Around Equitable Supports for Children

  • Equity and Access to High Quality Education to Narrow the Opportunity Gap: Building Dual Capacity in Family-School Partnerships

  • Using Data to Create Change & Promote Equity in the Administration of Juvenile Justice

  • The Difference You Make: Using Data to HIghlight Equity for All

  • Multi-Tiered Systems Support (MTSS) Framework Through the Lens of Equity

12:15 - 12:40 p.m. Lunch and Networking

12:45 - Afternoon Plenary Session. Including:

  • Bold Steps for Children Award: Santa Clara Board of Supervisors for their Courage and Investment in Our Immigrant Children and Families

  • Reflection Panel with Foothill College First Gen Student Leaders - Facilitated by Thuy Thi Nguyen, President of Foothill College

2:15p.m. - 2:30 - Closing Remarks

About Our Presenters:

Héctor Sánchez-Flores, Executive Director of the National Compadres Network, will be our guide for the day, weaving together the day's proceedings and helping us to move forward together to build a equitable and just community.
