Course Title

Minnesota State Building Code, Year in review.

Course Description

Seven hours continuing education is provided with focus on several key areas shown to be of particular interest over the last 12 months. Administration, building planning, wall construction and envelope protection will be of particular focus. Participation is strongly encouraged to learn from shared experiences and determine successful solutions. Training material will include a minimum of 1 hour focused on MN Rules Chapter 1322, Residential Energy Code as required by State Statute for MN Licensed Contractors.

Course Schedule

• Start 8:00 am
• A) Minnesota State Building Code- Make up and Use
• MN is special, how and why. Snow and frost.
• Residential requirements including passive and active radon systems.
• B) Chapter 3 Building Planning
• Break 15 minutes
• C) Wood wall framing
• D) Wall Bracing
• Lunch 60 minutes
• E) Water resistive barriers, exterior wall requirements
• F) 1322 MN Energy Code 60 minutes
• G) Roofing and siding. Attachments and Code criteria.
• Break 15 minutes
• H) Residential plumbing, basics for the general contractor
• I) Residential HVAC, basics for the general contractor
• Adjourn 4:30 pm

Instructor Andy Schreder, C.B.O.

Andy is the Building Official for the cities of St. Francis and Nowthen, located in northern Anoka County. Andy has presented continuing education seminars for MN Licensed Residential Contractors for several years and brings a fresh perspective to building code enforcement with a desire to achieve code compliance through education and personal experience. His experience working with multiple jurisdictions provides a balanced background of knowledge that he brings to this seminar.

10,000 Lakes is a local chapter of the International Code Council. AMBO is a statewide chapter of ICC representing building officials throughout the state.

10K and AMBO are non-profit organizations that are comprised of over 500 members that most likely include your local building inspector. Together, these chapters have strived to provide quality continuing education for building officials contractors and anyone within the construction industry.
